A doula is a trained and certified traditional birth partner whose job is to support you and yours in the incredible journey of birth - all the way from making your birth plan to practicing pain management techniques to helping you with that first latch.
My philosophy as a doula is a simple one. I believe that birth is a natural, powerful event that can be a beautiful experience. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all birth plan, and that learning about labor and birth is essential! Because of this, my prenatal support is structured around childbirth education and the desire for you and your partner - as applicable - to feel comfortable working together as a team.
How do you know if my doula services are for you? Let's meet to talk about it!
In this first no-strings-attached meeting, we'll discuss your pregnancy, past birth experiences, due dates, and my role as your potential doula. Let's see if this is what is right for your birth!
Around 35 weeks, we'll grab coffee together and talk about your ideal birth plan. We get to know each other better and talk about doula support in more detail.
Around 37 weeks, we'll meet again to practice labor positions, breathing techniques, and vocalization, so that you feel confident to go into labor.
The day has come! Two weeks prior to your due date until you have your baby, I'm on call! As your doula I am available 24/7 to answer any questions you have and come to you when you go into labor. I am with you throughout your whole labor and birth, giving you and everyone in the room the support you need, as we talked about in your birth plan.
After the birth I help you and baby get comfortable, and when the time comes, make sure breastfeeding goes as well as possible. Then I leave you, baby, and your family to snuggle and enjoy a new life!
After your birth, I'll be available by phone and text to support you through your first few weeks of postpartum. I'll also visit you at your home to answer any breastfeeding questions you may have and chat about your birth experience!
